From Kathmandu we take an early morning flight to Lukla, which takes about 40 minutes. After arriving in Lukla, we start our trek to Phakding. The trail is up and down all the way to Choplung. There, the old trek route from Jiri to the Everest Base Camp joins our path. We continue the trek to Ghat, which offers great views of Kusum Kanguru (6367 m), and then to Phakding (2410 m).

After the early morning breakfast, we start to trek to Namche Bazaar. The trail initially follows the Dudh Koshi river until a suspension bridge. Once crossing the bridge, the view of Mount Thamsherku (6623 m) appears in front of you. About an hour trek further, we will reach Chumuwa village and then Monjo village, which is the entry point to the Sagarmatha National Park. You will now follow a path through forest of pine trees and head towards Jorsalle. From here it is another 3 hours of uphill ascent to Namche.

We will spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude and weather in Namche. There are multiple optional trips you can choose from.
1. You can trek up to Khumjung to visit the village and yak breeding center and then walk down to Hillary School and Khumjung monastery which houses a yeti skull. On the way back, visit the Everest View hotel that is the vantage point to view Khumbila, Tabuche, Everest, Lhotse, Peak 38, Ama Damblam, Khangtega, Thamserku and Kusum Kangru.
2. You can hike up to Syangboche and trek to Khunde village, where you can visit a nunnery monastery, elderly care point and a hospital. From there you have a good view of Khumjung village and Ama Dablam on your back.

We take the Gokyo valley route which will allow you to witness beautiful views of Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam and Nuptse. The challenge ahead is crossing the Mong La Pass located at an altitude of 3980 m, where we will have our lunch.
